ALP SPIN REPLACES POLICIES, PRINCIPLES

The media exposure on the Labor Right collecting vast sums of money from developers is timely and comes at a time when there are other media reports that John Della Bosca intends to roll Morris Iemma.

Della Bosca, however, isn’t the answer to Labor’s problems.  He is an illustration of the problem.  Della Bosca is supremo of the self elected , self perpetuating clique of Sussex Street aparatchiks who are all over the state parliamentary party like a rash.

This collection of “bovver” boys and girls, greasy pole climbers, numbers men and women or branch numbers manipulators are totally unqualified to be what, in truth, the head of a government department is nowadays namely the CEO of a large administrative enterprise.

All they can do is read out what some bureaucrat puts in front of them, never mind if it is consistent with ALP policy or even what they said last week.

Spin has replaced policy or respect for Labor traditions or principles, as Michael Costa’s denial that he gave a hoot for the opinion of the members of the Labor Party about privatisation demonstrated for all to see.

The divorce of this clique not only from the problems of ordinary people in this state but even from the Labor party rank and file is shown for all to see in the fat that Della Bosca apparently presumes that he will run for the seat of Gosford, never mind what the Labor party members in Gosford might think

PARKING RATES PLANE CRAZY

It is pleasing that the ACCC will examine Mascot Airport parking charges.  I drop off and pick up family several times a year and resent the exploitation there.  Contrary to the recollection of the Macquarie spokesperson, I believe that a marked jump in fees followed the sale of this valuable asset by the Howard government.

The stipulated fee for a short stay is $13 but I cannot see family into the departure area and get back to the car for less than $17.  When I am picking up, waiting is always involved and the costs at least $20.

SCAPEGOAT BRENDAN

Brendan’s not the problem, it’s the Liberals’ narrow minded view that a party’s fortune rests on leadership.  It is sort of like launching a company without a product.

Set up the boardroom and then we’ll decide what we’ll sell.  The conservatives have not learned a thing.

Try establishing a platform of policies first and then get a great spruiker to sell them.

Brendan’s a scapegoat for a party still focused on appearances and not substance.
