FOUR LIBERAL MP’S CROSS FLOOR TO SUPPORT
THE IEMMA GOVERNMENT’S INJECTING ROOM BILL
On Thursday June 21, 2007 four Liberal MPs crossed the floor and voted in favour of the Kings Cross injecting room against their party’s position. Instead of following their parliamentary colleagues, Brad Hazzard, Judy Hopwood, Gladys Berejiklian and Jillian Skinner threw their support behind the controversial clinic.
The State Labor Government wants to extend the injecting rooms trial for another four years. Ms. Hopwood a former nurse, told Parliament she believed the injecting room was important in solving the drug problem” Ms. Hopwood said.
Her views are in stark contrast to former Opposition Leader Peter Debnam, who has been vocal in his disgust of the clinic. Mr. Debnam was criticized this week for saying he would hate to have an injecting room in his backyard. “Mr. Debnam whose seat of Vaucluse borders Kings Cross,” he said. While Liberal MPs were allowed opposition by the Nationals.
“We would prefer a strong massage that drugs damage and destroy lives and families and drugs are responsible for crime,” Nationals Leader Andrew Stoner said.
We at “Voice of the People” are not arguing the merits of the injecting room what we are arguing is that the injecting room is operating in breach of the Australian Constitution and Federal Law. Both the NSW Government and the Federal Government are guilty of Federal indictable offences. Evidence of this can be found – Link >>>> Update February 2007 Part Two – The Law and You
