AUSTRALIANS BETRAYED!
Terry McCrann the Sydney Daily Telegraph’s Business Editor
continues to be the big end of town’s mouth piece in lieu of what is beneficial
for the future of the majority of ordinary Australians.
Treasurer Costello announced he’s going to get tough with
state Labor Governments for Double Taxing.
One could be forgiven for thinking the Federal Treasurer was having a
puff or two of the “funny weed,” when you consider Mr. Costello introduced the
Goods and Services tax (GST).
He also implemented levies of a 11 cents a litre on milk and
3 cents a kilo on sugar this was another form of taxation on Australian
consumers.
Keating introduced a bi-annual Excise linked to the CPI on
Fuel, alcohol and Tobacco. Mr.
Costello’s government when in opposition were up in arms re: these excises and
yet once they were elected did they rescind the excise act, NO – they embraced
it.
It’s about time Australian kicked up a storm about the
unfair taxes, levies and excises and replace them with a Transaction Tax
System. Following are the benefits:
1.
No more federal, State or Local Government Taxes, Levies,
Excises or GST.
2.
Very Little paperwork involved re: paying your 1 ˝ %
transaction tax.
3.
With excises abolished, Fuel including Diesel will cost
consumers less than 50 cents a litre.
4.
Foreign Multi-Nationals who have paid little or no tax since
1953 will be compelled to pay their fair share of tax under the Transaction Tax
System.
5.
With excises abolished – fuel including Diesel will cost
consumers less than 50 cents a litre, reducing costs across the board for goods
that are Transported.
6.
Foreign Multi-National who have paid little or no tax since
1953 under the “Dual Reciprocation Tax Agreement” will be compelled to pay
their fair share of Tax instead of the Australian tax-payer being left to
subsidies these business organizations.
Messrs. Howard, Costello, Anderson and Helen Coonan
continue to reassure us, that if they fully sell off Telstra they will
legislate to regulate the Telco to protect Rural and Regional Services. If it
was possible for the Howard Government to force regulation on
Multi-National buyers successfully, the Telco would be financially unviable.
We were placed in a similar position when Paul
Keating guaranteed us that the sale of the “People’s Bank,” The Commonwealth
would leave all Australian better off.
Instead we had 50,000 workers were made redundant 2,000 branches were
closed and in lieu of interest being paid on savings whereas if you have less
than $2000 in your account you have to pay a $6 monthly administration fee.
But, where the banks really make a killing is when
there’s a rise in interest rates which is applicable almost immediately to
raise home loan rates, whilst failing to pass the rise on deposit rates, raking
in millions, and yet the Howard-Anderson Coalition remain silent, whilst the
banks continue to commit grand larceny and there will be no benefits to
consumers when they sell Telstra, for the following reasons:
1
The introduction of timed phone calls
2
IT costs, will rise including equipment rental.
3
Consumers will be totally responsible for the costs in
repairing faulty equipment. Which begs
one to ask, how many technicians will be available to repair faults in rural
and Regional Australia?
PS Mark Vaile
federal trade minister will be represented by his senior trade adviser
Andrew Ethell and Stephen Deady- first assistant secretary of the trade
development division of the department of foreign affairs and trade.
