Post Federal Election Review 2007
It was a decise Labor victory to the Rudd/ Gillard lead opposition, similar to the opposite result from the last federal election when the Howard/Vaile coalition won a third term.
However this time the elected Government will not have majority power in the Senate and should eliminate dictatorship that had prevailed and provide more checks and balances in the passing of Bills.
The downside of the results was the lack of voters support for the Independent Candidates, these candidates work for the people through the constitution to build a better parliament for all Australians.
Lets Look at some of the statistical facts and costs of this and previous elections.
This Federal Election there were 13,654,073 Voters Enrolled .
The Informal Vote count was almost 820,000 however this was an improvement on last election , this means that Australians are paying more attention to the importance of voting system and how it may effect their future.
The Unconstitutional and illegal 2 party preferred system including preferences accounted in this election for 94% of the Votes .
The Senate paper also illegally dupes the voter into placing a single vote for a party above the line, and gives the option to vote below the line for 79 individual candidates.
The Independents were not Grouped by AEC so you had to vote below the line for the entire 79 candidates.
The Costs to the tax payers of these pre-election campaigns, including advertising was as follows:-
1982-1996 Labor Government advertising = $95 Million
1996- 2007 Liberal Coalition Government advertising = $1.1 Billion
1995- 2009 Estimated Combined cost of all State and Federal Elections = $1 Billion
2007- NSW State and Federal Elections = $200 Million+
Lets not forget the Total Extra Funding Promises during election campaign
A] Howard / Vaile Coalition Government Promised $54 Billion during the next term.
B] Rudd/ Gillard Labor Opposition Promised $42 Billion “ “ “
Where is this money to come from, and how is it to paid back !
The Rudd/Gillard Labor Government has to meet some formidable challenges to ensure that Australia does not continue to become a third world service orientated country, and the Australian worker and Australian Families can grow and prosper from its wealth and they will learn by the mistakes of their predecessors . One of his first challenges in 2008 we believe will be to contain interest rate increases in Australia as a direct result of the collapse of the USA Sub Prime mortgage market.
We believe the most important priorities to be addressed:-
1] Change the Tax System- [ As Current retards growth and limits revenue that can be collected by the government ]
There is a fairer and more equitable one Tax System where everybody wins link > updates Oct/2006 part 3 [ Transaction Tax ]
2] Develop and Implement Immediate short and long term Strategies for Infrastructure ie: Water / Electricity /Highways and Transport.
3] Implement programmes to provide more opportunities for Technical and higher Education.
4] Considerably reduce the amount of Government Spending on Oversea’s projects and Loans to other countries.
5] Increase allocation of funds available for Research and Development Projects.
6] Implement procedures to allow the full use of Referendums on key issues effecting all Australian’s .
7] Cease the sale of public assets unless agreed to by Referendum.
8] Put in place procedures to reduce our Trade Deficit
9] Ensure greater checks and balances favour Australia in all Free Trade Negotations
