HERR HOWARD STRUGGLES IN MENZIES SHADOW
(Prime Minister) Herr Howard’s theft of the Menzies legacy took a battering during the week when Senator Faulkner from N.S.W. reminded the Senate of “Ming’s” staunch belief in the arbitration system. As Howard’s legislation swept the system into history’s dustbin, Faulkner quoted Menzies’ 1942 policy speech: “The wage earner in an industry is a human being whose welfare should be the care of the industry in which he co-operates. Legal duties and legal wages are not all. The Liberal Party”, he said, “believes in Trade Unionism and in the protection by law of the rights secured by wage earners. And because it believes in all these things, it stands for a fair Industrial Law, which will be enforced without fear, favour or affection against employer or employee alike. We aim at high wages – good conditions – sharing of prosperity – the independent settlement of differences by conciliation and arbitration.” Herr Howard doesn’t even reach the ankle of the Party’s great leader.
This should leave no doubt in your mind that Herr Howard’s Government and his Upper House (Senate) Gestapo have destroyed the principles for Menzies’ Liberalism by breaching and destroying our Constitution.
