The Carr Government remains silent on the
Labor Rockdale Councillor who was found to be accepting bribes from a
developer. More than a year has lapsed
since the Labor controlled Liverpool City Council was exposed over their oasis
development project. But to this day we
don’t know whether the resident/ratepayers of Liverpool or the project
developers were responsible for the overpayment of Canterbury Bulldogs players which
found them in breach of the NRL’s salary cap.
Canterbury City Councils development
committee amended the draft DCP to Canterbury LEP 148 – Campsie Precinct, to
rezone 1 Phillips Avenue, Canterbury for acquisition for Clunes Lane widening
which is a no through lane at present.
The young couple who own the aforementioned
property bought it for above market price in April 2003, and moved into their
residence in early October 2003. These young
couples are stressed out that they can be forced to sell for Market Price
although they don’t want to sell for any price. Whatever happened to the saying “my home, is my castle.”
The acquisition of this property is to allow
two way traffic to flow enabling rear parking for a proposed development. Following are the comments of Councils
Director of Environmental Services.
Re; financial and emotional burdens; should
it be resolved to adopt the DCP, the Section 94 contributions plan will need to
be amended and local environmental plan will need to be initiated for 1
Phillips Avenue to cater for the land acquisition.
Standard acquisition provisions allow for
acquisition on demand of the property owners and market price is to be paid.
IS IT PLANNING BY
STEALTH?
Rumors form the right circles are Rife that
the Sydney Turf Club owner of Canterbury Race track, (93 hectares) will be sold
sooner rather than later.
Should this come to fruition the Track must
revert to Open Green Space. One
scenario floating around is that the Carr Government is keen to purchase this
land for Housing Commission Units. The
State Government is eager to transfer Housing Commission Tenants from the South
Sydney area in the hop of eliminating major Crime form the surrounds of the
Sydney CBD. Should this be true, it
would explain why Minister Tony Kelly wants to move the 8 biggest rate paying
corporations from South Sydney Municipality and transfer them to the Sydney
City Council area.
This would lead to South Sydney Council
becoming Insolvent. Canterbury
Municipality will inherit the Inner City Crime whilst the Carr Government will
profit by many Billions of dollars on the sale of the South Sydney Housing Commission
Estates, in which they are the Land Lord.
It’s time that elected members and their
Bureaucrats were made accountable regardless of the tier of Government they
represent in fact when you consider our population of around 20 Million we are
Over-Governed.
It’s time we abolished one tier of Government
either State or Local Government and this should be decided by the Australian
Community via a Referendum.
